An ecosystem we study — a living landscape

The ecosystem-led framework

Our Process.

We study how life adapts to environmental pressure, then translates those survival strategies into skincare systems.

The Method

Each ecosystem represents a different type of environmental stress and a different adaptive response in nature.

  • 01

    Ecosystem

    The living environment we study.

  • 02

    Pressure

The stressors that shape life there.

  • 03

    Adaptation

The strategies organisms use to survive.

  • 04

    Function

    The skincare solution nature informs.

  • 05

    Role

Where it sits in your routine.

Cornish coast — the foundational ecosystem

Why Cornwall comes first.

Not an ecosystem, but a microcosm of many habitats, Cornwall is the perfect starting position for Mor & Meadow .It is the landscape that gave the brand its name and identity, defined by the meeting of sea and land, mineral-rich soils, maritime influence, and shifting microclimates. In brand terms, Cornwall offers a distinctive, ownable sense of place; in framework terms, it expresses balance, adaptability, and everyday barrier support.

How we formulate

Rather than building products around trends or isolated actives, we begin by identifying a skin need; such as barrier support, hydration, protection or repair then study the ecosystems and organisms best adapted to solving that challenge in nature. From there, we select botanical, marine and fungal bioactives whose adaptive strategies align with the role each product performs within the system.

Every ingredient is chosen not only for efficacy, but for how it contributes to the wider formulation, with an emphasis on traceability, responsible sourcing and long-term skin resilience.

How the four ecosystems work together.

Cornish is the foundation layer: the baseline from which the system builds. Rainforest, Desert and Alpine each add a distinct adaptive role: reset, protect and repair.

Foundation

Cornish

The baseline every other framework builds outward from — a resilient barrier, replenished by mineral balance.

Repair

Rainforest

Overnight repair drawn from canopy regeneration — tissue rebuild, microbiome support, quiet recovery.

Reset

Desert

For when the skin has been pushed — rebalancing moisture, oil and the barrier after extreme exposure.

Protect

Alpine

A shield against altitude-grade stress: cold, wind, reflected light. Mineral-rich, low water activity.

Our process

Three chapters — from how we approach a formula, through the range we make today, to the ecosystems still ahead.

01

Research & Formulation.

Study how plants, fungi and other organisms adapt to environmental stressors across specific ecosystems, then translate those adaptive strategies into botanical formulations designed to support balance, resilience and daily skin function.

02

Design.

Develop a distinct visual identity for each ecosystem paying homage to the unique characteristics of the ecosystem that inspired it. Ensuring every product’s form, artwork, and identity are inseparable from its origin, to create an object worthy of repeated ritual.

03

Education.

Build an open culture of education, transparency, and collaboration; sharing our methods, decisions, and learning while growing a community around knowledge, craft, and care.
