What is Bloom?
Morning has its own kind of logic
There is a moment in the morning — after the alarm, before the noise — where your skin is doing something quite precise. The cortisol that dragged you awake has also nudged your skin into a different state. Repair mode is winding down, the outer barrier is firming up, and your skin begins to brace for whatever the day has in store. UV, wind, pollution, temperature shifts, and all the other pressures it might face. It is a moment that deserves more than a splash of water and a hope for the best.
Bloom is a morning facial mist designed for exactly that transition. A leave-on aqueous treatment that layers effortlessly into the start of your routine — hydrating, strengthening the barrier, and quietly preparing your skin's defences for the day ahead.
The architecture of a formula
The hero actives
The first is Tremella fuciformis (Snow Mushroom) extract, delivered via a whole-cellular extract. Snow mushroom has been prized in East Asian herbal traditions for centuries, and modern science has begun to explain why: its branched polysaccharides form a fine, flexible network on the skin surface that shares functional similarities with hyaluronic acid — binding and holding water within the upper skin layers while forming a light film that slows water escaping throughout the day. Alongside this hydrating action, Tremella polysaccharides have shown antioxidant activity in multiple research systems, with formulas having demonstrated measurable improvements in skin hydration in clinical testing.
The second hero is Hydrolysed Ulva lactuca (Sea Lettuce) extract. Sea lettuce is a bright green marine alga common to Atlantic coastal waters — including the coastline of Cornwall — and its hydrolysed extract brings a mineral-dense, polysaccharide-rich profile to the skin. Hydrolysis breaks the large seaweed molecules into smaller fragments that interact more readily with the skin's upper layers, improving the availability of its trace elements, amino acids, and bioactive compounds. Published research on Ulva lactuca confirms its antioxidant and skin-conditioning properties, and its mineral profile — including calcium, magnesium, and iron — contributes to the ionic environment that healthy skin function depends on.
The secondary actives
These bring four further layers of targeted support. Palmaria palmata (Dulse) is a red Atlantic seaweed with well-documented antioxidant activity, alongside a polysaccharide and amino acid profile that supports hydration and skin conditioning.
Camellia sinensis (Green Tea) leaf extract is one of the most studied botanical actives in dermatology. It’s catechins — particularly EGCG — are supported by multiple clinical and mechanistic studies for antioxidant protection, anti-inflammatory activity, and sebum regulation. In a morning formula, green tea's antioxidant and sebum-modulating properties are especially well-placed as it is the time of day when the skin begins to face its highest environmental oxidative load.
MossCellTec™ No.1, the proprietary moss-derived complex also found in Shade, has been evaluated in placebo-controlled studies for its effects on barrier function and skin homogeneity.
Organic Juniper hydrosol, alongside its aromatic character, brings a plant with a documented profile of antioxidant and antimicrobial compounds, and a traditional history in botanical skincare as a clarifying, astringent-action active.
Together, these four form a secondary tier that addresses oxidative defence, barrier function, sebum balance, and skin refinement simultaneously.
Supporting actives
This is where the sensory and comfort layers of Bloom are built. Organic Rosemary and Neroli hydrosols contribute their aromatic character and gentle conditioning properties to the base. Rosemary in particular has a well-supported antioxidant profile attributed to compounds including rosmarinic acid and carnosol. Elderberry, raspberry, and cucumber fruit extracts add antioxidant polyphenols. The formula is completed with sodium hyaluronate, panthenol, betaine, and allantoin — well-regarded, established compounds that contribute to hydration, surface smoothness, and skin comfort throughout.
Three things Bloom does, simultaneously
Skin conditioning and barrier support
Ulva lactuca, Dulse, and MossCellTec each support skin comfort and barrier integrity from different angles. The result is skin that feels calmer, more even, and better prepared for the demands of the day.
Hydration that lasts the day
Tremella's film-forming polysaccharides and Ulva lactuca's mineral-rich compounds work at the skin surface and upper layers to hold moisture in. Dulse and the secondary actives deepen that foundational hydration.
Antioxidant and environmental defence
Green tea catechins, Tremella polysaccharides, Dulse, sea lettuce, and elderberry all contribute to the formula's antioxidant network. UV damage, pollution, and oxidative stress continue to act on skin throughout the day. Bloom is a formula which begins the morning by building antioxidant resilience against these pressures
Who Bloom is for
Anyone whose skin faces daytime life — which is to say, everyone. The formula is pH-optimised to align with the skin's natural barrier, alcohol-free, and built around a multi-layer preservative system that protects without drying. It is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, combination, and oily skin; the sebum-modulating properties of green tea and the clarifying character of juniper make it particularly well-placed for those whose skin tends to shift towards congestion or excess oil.
Whoever you might be, Bloom strengthens your barrier, preparing your skin for whatever the day might throw at it.
